Francis Smerecki, France coach
Firstly, I want to congratulate Nigeria for their great match. They were strong opponents, with good quality. We are happy because it is the first time France has qualified for a U-20 World Cup semi-final. We have a strong generation with an amazing mental strength and they showed that when Nigeria levelled the match. About Lacazette, I can say he is one of the best strikers of this tournament. Every time he comes from the bench he brings something valuable. We know we can win this tournament, but we think the other team are also strong. We have seen Portugal a couple of times, so now we are going to analyse them and prepare for the match.
John Obuh, Nigeria coach
It is sad to leave the tournament like that. And I think it was kind of unexpected because we knew we could have won this match. But our effort wasn’t enough in the end. We had a great opponent and the match was very tight. I think the big difference is that they took advantage of the chances they created. Anyway, we leave Colombia very happy. I think after Colombia lost, the public adopted us and made us feel like locals. I told my guys that they can leave with the heads up because they played a huge tournament. It is a great generation as shown in the U-17 two years ago. I think they are on the right path to form the base of the senior national team in the years to come.
