Jose Sulantay, Chile coach: "This is the second time we have played here in Edmonton and it's the second time we have achieved our goal. We had some luck and the hot weather was perfect for us today. The expectations were high among my team, as they showed in training and that's reflected in us reaching the quarter-finals and that gives me a lot of happiness."
Jose Couceiro, Portugal coach: "The worst moments you could think of for us were in the first half. We were afraid of the ball and couldn't put two or three passes together. We didn't press and we let Chile play between the lines and that was what we had tried to address over the last few days in training. To make things worse we couldn't attack and we suffered a set-piece goal in the 45th minute. In the second half we started playing with more confidence and pressing. We attacked without fear. In fact, we evened up the game a bit and could have scored."
Nicolas Medina, Chile striker: "We feel good and we're really happy that we were able to make it to the next round. Hopefully we can go on and get a win on Sunday to keep going through. It was really hot but we weren't really worried about that. We just wanted to go out there and push forward and that's what we are able to do in the first half."
Feliciano Condesso, Portugal midfielder: "All the team are really tired and sad. We were asleep in the first half but I think we dominated the second half and we had some opportunities but unfortunately we woke up too late. I think all the players gave their best but luck wasn't on our side."
