Ladan Bosso, Nigeriacoach: "It was a very tough match, just as
we'd expected. Of course I'm pleased, not just at having
the won the game but also because I saw a big improvement in the
team's performance. I think that we could have scored more
goals were it not for a quality display by the Zambia keeper, who
performed spectacularly well today."
George Lwandamina, Zambia coach: "Even though
we're out of the competition, I can't say that I'm
disappointed. This tournament has been a great experience both for
ourselves (the coaching staff) and the boys. I think we played well
today, but we struggled to maintain our concentration after
levelling the match. What can I take from this adventure? This team
was only formed two years ago and arrived in Canada having only
played in three tournaments together. Even so, the guys showed
determination and ambition. They should have no regrets."
Chukwuma Akabueze, scorer of Nigeria's second
goal: "I'm very happy to have scored. I'm
always trying to catch keepers out from distance, but it hadn't
worked for me until now. The team are very focused on the task
ahead and we're hoping to keep playing like we did today
throughout the latter stages. We want to win the title."
Emmanuel Mayuka, Zambia forward: "We can't be satisfied (with the result), but we know that we've picked up some wonderful experience at this tournament. I think that we lost the game because our concentration wavered, but this isn't over. Our project continues and hopefully we can keep participating at the highest level of the world game."
