Gustavo Ferrin, Uruguay coach: "We knew we
were in for a very tight and difficult game because of their
tactics. They never came out for the win, or at least they did it
in a way that made life difficult for us. These three points are so
valuable. We had a lot of respect for Jordan and they showed out on
the pitch how good they are. It's great to have won and stay
unbeaten but we're taking this one match at a time. It was very
hot out there and that made a difference on the players. We had to
make a few changes because of tiredness."
Jan Poulsen, Jordan coach: "I'm very
satisfied with my team's performance today. After seeing
Uruguay's first game we knew how good they were and we managed
to cause them lots of problems. They didn't have the fluency
they had against Spain. We had chances to equalise but we
couldn't put them away. Even so we still managed to hit the
post, and as a coach you can't do anything about that.
We'll just have to work on being sharper in the opposing
box."
Edinson Cavani, Uruguay forward: "The goal
was a move we'd been practising in training. Luckily I managed
to keep the ball down and it went in. As a striker it's very
important to score because it helps you stay sharp."
Raed Fraeh, Jordan midfielder: "We're
very pleased with our performance and work rate, but we didn't
have any luck. I thought we played well but we hit the woodwork
three times. I'm sure we can do better in our next
game."
