Austria and Chile played out a rather exciting 0-0 draw at Toronto's National Soccer Stadium on Sunday to finish up their Group C adventure at Canada 2007. The result sees Chile finish top of the pack with seven points while Austria go through in second.
The Alpine side dictated the pattern of play throughout the tight contest, with the much-travelled Chileans looking tired and out sorts after their sizzling start to the finals. The Europeans were unlucky to see a goal disallowed from Peter Hackmair midway through the first half and saw a number of good chances - most notably from their start striker Erwin 'Jimmy' Hoffer - go begging in the second period.
Chile, who have not conceded a goal in their three group matches, will now take on Portugal in Edmonton in the Round of Sixteen while Austria meet Gambia and Congo clash with Mexico. Also from the group, Congo - who knocked hosts Canada out with a win over in Edmonton - also go through to the knockout stages as one of the best third-place finishers.
