Argentina's new young star, Javier Saviola, won both golden adidas trophies at the FIFA World Youth Championship, topping the vote for the best player and also clearly finishing as leading goalscorer.

Saviola claimed some 80 per-cent of the votes cast by the accredited media, winning the Golden Ball trophy by a wide margin over fellow teammate Andres D'Alessandro (195) and Cisse from France (84).

He also took the Golden Shoe prize thanks to his 11 goals, a new World Youth Championship record. Here, too, he finished way ahead of the winners of the Silver Shoe, Adriano from Brazil (6 goals) and Bronze Shoe, Cisse of France (6 goals).
