Canada went ahead just prior to the interval through Jenna Richardson, but Norway displayed great tenacity to draw level through firstly Ada Hergerberg just after the break, with elder sister Andrine then claiming a crucial winner 11 minutes from full time.
After the break Hergerberg the younger made up for her penalty miss by tapping home from close range, after a stunning run into the right side of the penalty area by the impressive Hansen.
The decisive moment of a high octane encounter came from Andrine Hegerberg, who crashed home a perfectly hit left-foot drive from just outside the penalty area, in what was a classy finish to an entertaining contest.
“We should have played with more discipline tactically, and try to avoid the mistakes individually, and follow what we had planned,” said Canada coach Andrew Olivieri. “We could have tried to save one point, but I don't think it would have been the right thing to do.”
