The Olympic champions have been determined over recent weeks but now focus turns to the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup Japan 2012, which promises to be another high quality and significant event for women’s football.

Japan will be hosting its maiden women’s football tournament little more than 12 months since the Nadeshiko were crowned world champions, with women’s football in the east Asian nation enjoying significant growth during that time.

The sixth edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will run from 19 August to 8 September and will see the 16 finest women’s U-20 sides compete across host cities Hiroshima, Kobe, Miyagi, Saitama and Tokyo.
