Choi In Cheul, Korea Republic coach
It’s the first time Korea have played an African team and at the beginning of the match it was hard for our players to play a new team but throughout the game you could see our players beginning to adapt. Even when they go behind I tell our players to focus on their own game and that’s what they did. We conserved our energy in the first half thinking the Ghana team could not keep up their speed.

James Dadzie, Ghana coach
The game was keenly contested and we did our best. As far as we are concerned 4-2 is not a fair result but this is football. Their second goal was a powerful shot from their player but I would still blame our goalkeeper for letting the ball in.

Kim Narae, Korea Republic free-kick scorer
In Korea and again in Germany we practice these set-pieces with great intensity and regularity and it paid off for us today.

Kim Hye-Ri, Korea Republic captain
The coach will watch the game between USA and Switzerland and then decide on the tactics for our third game (against the US). We are sure we can reach the final.

Elizabeth Cudjoe, Ghana goalscorer
We have come here to improve and to go positively into every game so we are not disappointed with the result. We do not just want to take part - we want to show we can do something here in Germany.
