More than 300 guests, including Minister President of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich, the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the FIFA U-20 and U-17 Women's World Cups Franz Beckenbauer, OC President Steffi Jones, DFB General Secretary Wolfgang Niersbach and representatives of the 16 competing nations will attend the Final Draw for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup at 1:00 pm CET on Thursday 22 April 2010 at the Residenzschloss, Dresden.
A delegation from football’s world governing body FIFA and teams of officials representing the host cities Augsburg, Bielefeld, Bochum and Dresden, will also be joined by USA national coach Pia Sundhage and experienced coaching instructor Monika Staab.
The one-hour draw ceremony will be overseen by FIFA's Head of Women's Competitions Tatjana Haenni. The draw itself will be made by Women’s Bundesliga stars Alexandra Krieger (FFC Frankfurt/ USA), Yuki Nagasato (FFC Turbine Potsdam/Japan), Carol Carioca (USV Jena/Brazil), Adjoa Bayor (USV Jena/Ghana), Marie-Louise Bagehorn (FFC Turbine Potsdam/Germany) and Dzsenifer Marozsan (FFC Frankfurt/Germany).
"The draw marks the start of the countdown to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. At the draw in Dresden and on planned inspection tours of the venues, our overseas visitors will be able to form a first impression of the state of preparations. Naturally, we’re aiming to meet everyone’s high expectations," commented OC President Jones.
The official news conference at midday on Thursday and the ensuing draw will be broadcast live on dfb-tv.
