USA defeated Argentina by three goals to nil in the second matchday of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Chile 2008 on Saturday 22 November at the Nelson Oyarzun Stadium in Chillan.
The US were in front after just 11 minutes when skipper Becky Edwards shot from outside the area flew into the net. The player who created that goal, Sydney Leroux, also had two attempts of her own; the first smartly saves and the second narrowly wide.
The Albiceleste started the second half brightly and Alyssa Naeher was called into action twice to deny Florencia Jaimes in the opening minutes following the restart. However, USA doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute when Elli Reed's long cross found Alex Morgan who fired home.
Becky Edwards had a golden chance to double her tally for the day and put her team 3-0 ahead from the penalty spot, but missed, but in the final minute that scoreline was reached when Morgan scored her second of the afternoon.
USA, who have already qualified for the next round, meet China in Temuco on Wednesday, while Argentina travel to Santiago to face France in the national stadium of La Florida.
