Bronze seals China's progression

Ruan Xiaoqing scored the only goal as China PR beat Korea Republic to the bronze medal at the AFC U-19 Women's Championship and a place at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Chile 2008.

The teams met in the group stage of the competition, with the match finishing 1-1, but after respective losses in Saturday's semi-finals it was the Chinese who rebounded with victory. After a first half of few chances ended goalless, the Steel Rosebuds emerged for the restart in determined mood.

Having squandered a couple of fine opportunities in front of goal, China finally got their reward 14 minutes from time when Zhu Wei's well-taken corner was headed home by Ruan Xiaoqing. They will now join Japan and Korea DPR, who will meet in the continental final, in representing Asia at Chile 2008.
