Kleiton Lima, Brazil coach
Germany had the edge physically, and we didn't get our counter-attacks going, which was our game plan. We should have played better down the flanks too, with the ball at our feet to kill the game. Getting knocked out is not a failure, though, as we showed our strength and came here in search of the title like everyone else. But details are what make the difference at crucial moments. We wanted to reach the semi-finals because Brazil have gone close before but have never been champions. All the same, we showed a lot of dedication and we can leave with our heads held high.
Maren Meinert, Germany coach
I'm not concerned about individual errors, which are understandable with this age group. In fact, I'm very satisfied with how (Carolin) Schiewe and (Alisa) Vetterlein performed overall, and the keeper made a great save at the end to stop them pulling level. I'd be more worried if we were making structural errors, because you can always address individual mistakes. We started well, but the own goal really woke us up and we got the equalizer at just the right time. We managed to control Brazil's attacks in the second half and stopped them from putting our goal under threat.
Carolin Schiewe, Germany captain
It's difficult to recover from an own goal straightaway, but I had confidence in the team and we reacted very quickly and very positively, and we managed to turn the game around.
