Tony DiCicco, United States coach
Our problem was that we played with a great deal of enthusiasm but not much intelligence. We made a defensive error, and from that point on it was always an uphill struggle. I'd also like to congratulate our opponents. They played a great match and proved that they've enough ability to have made it to the second phase. The fact that we made changes to our starting eleven wasn't because we underestimated our opponents. It's a youth competition and I believe that all the players should get time on the pitch in order to gain World Cup experience, and that's why I made changes.

Zhang Guilai, China coach
The United States are top-quality opponents. I'm not angry at all, despite the fact that we've been eliminated. I'm very satisfied with the result that we achieved. Women's football in China has still got a long way to go. We're not at the same level as other countries. We've got a lot to learn and let's hope that next time around we'll give a better account of ourselves.
