Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela book their places

Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela have qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 after the fifth day of action in the final round of matches at the South American U-17 Championship.

The decisive encounters, which were played out in the Argentinean city of San Luis, saw the hosts defeat Paraguay 3-1, Brazil edge Peru 2-1 and Venezuela draw 1-1 with Uruguay.

Paraguay and Uruguay remain in the hunt for the continent’s final place at UAE 2013, and face matches against Brazil and Peru respectively to determine who goes through. The final, meanwhile, will be contested by Argentina and Venezuela.

The Venezuelans have already made history by qualifying for the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the first time, while Brazil and Argentina are veterans by comparison, with 13 and 10 previous appearances respectively.
