Germany-Honduras: Quotes

Marco Pezzaiuoli, Germany coach
Today, we had no problems with our concentration. During the first two games, we had two 10-minute spells in which our minds were elsewhere, and we had to avoid that this time. We spoke to the players at length after the first two matches, we had one-on-one discussions and video sessions. As a result, this time we started well and created a lot of chances, but we couldn't find the back of the net, which was frustrating. And then we conceded, but the boys reacted really well, equalising quickly and then going ahead. I'm proud of them, they showed great character. It was a very difficult group and the heat was oppressive, so it really wasn't easy.

Eugenio Umanzor, Honduras coach
I'm sad that we've gone out, but it must be said that the three other teams in this group were very strong and could all win the trophy. We have to keep working hard, we must capitalise on the experience we've gained here and not let this excellent crop of players go to waste. We've lost our matches, but we've gained a lot more - in particular experience for the future.
