A 0-0 stalemate between New Zealand and USA was enough to take both sides through to the knockout rounds from Group D at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. More »
#1 rule in sports is play to win. Very bad move for the US. I'd blame the coaches for not teaching the youngsters right. You get what you deserve ... Germany. The tournament ends here for the US. I am predicting a 4-1 win for the Germans. No disrespect to NZ but you (the US) gotta push for a win. And, how could you lose to Uzbek (i mean no disrespect to Uzbek)? Perhaps, i had too much faith in US soccer where the senior side just got whipped by Mexico. I'll watch bowling from now on.
No doubt fair weather fan. USA football has advanced exponentially in the last 25 years. The USA boys had most of the attacking play but could not finish on goal.
The senior side got beat by a better team, with some world class young players. You make it sound like a loss to Mexico is a huge embarrassment. Also, I highly doubt Coach Cabrera TOLD the players to go out and get a draw. Things don't always work the way you plan them. Finally, the #1 rule in sports (in my opinion) is stick by your team through thick and thin. Go ahead and watch bowling, the USA fans will carry on supporting without you.
That was awful and embarassing by the kiwis. We played really well and have had a great tournament so far, (I'm so proud), but that display in The last fifteen minutes against the USA was shameful. We had the ability to win that game and finish first in the group but we kicked the ball around in the back four looking for a draw like a bunch of prats. The draw at FIFA gave us what we deserved ie third place behind the USA.
I'm ashamed and don't want us to win our next game.
Third place is actually the better spot if you ask me...would much rather play Japan over Germany. Really wish you guys had tried to go for the win. There was absolutely no way we were going to push more than one or two strikers with ten men, and now we're stuck playing possibly the best team in the tournament.
"We understand that Mexican fans don’t support us. This is clear because we are rivals; it is totally normal. It is something that our players are learning to deal with,” USA coach Wilmer Cabrera.
