Canada-Rwanda: Quotes

Rwanda coach Richard Tardy
“We could have played for hours and not have scored a goal today. This is the main problem with Rwanda’s football in general; we don’t finish our chances. We were reduced to shooting from long range and we never really looked like scoring. In all, I think the game was very equal. I am very upset with the result and it’s a big disappointment for us in the end. I believe many of these players will move on to the U-20 level and I am hoping that a good number of those will move on to represent the senior team. We learned a lot of lessons here and we have nothing to be ashamed of.”

Canada coach Sean Fleming
“We would have liked to create more chances today than we did. The final ball was lacking in the attacking third. I give credit to Rwanda. They were solid at the back and very difficult to break down. We had tired legs and tired brains in our third tough game here in Mexico. I am happy with the way this team tried to play football and the way they played the game through the whole tournament. We are upset to leave. But we didn’t take our chances against Uruguay and the same thing happened again tonight. If you don’t take your chances in football, you get punished.“
