Mexico coach Raul Gutierrez
"It’s a liberating result, because the opening match of a World Cup is always difficult, and it's even more so when you’re the host nation. There’s no doubt that our finishing could have been better, but what we need to take away from the match is that, despite losing a goal after just two minutes, the team had the necessary belief, leadership qualities and pride to completely turn the result around. Korea DPR put in a good performance, but we simply overcame them physically in the end."
Korea DPR coach An Ye-Gun
"Obviously, there’s no way we can be happy with this result. I thought Mexico played extremely well – much better than we expected – but I must add that my players really didn’t perform to their potential today. We struggled to adapt to the altitude, but I hope that as the days go by we’ll be able to deal with that better."
