The verdict is in. Having perused the ten spectacular strikes selected by the FIFA.com team, the site’s users have voted for the best goal of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011. And topping the poll was Julio Gomez’s superb overhead kick in Mexico’s semi-final against Germany, a goal that clinched a 3-2 win for the hosts and gave them a place in the final.

Taking second place behind the adidas Golden Ball winner was Canada goalkeeper Quillan Roberts and his improbable equaliser in the 2-2 draw with England, a shot struck from inside his own half. Completing the podium was the adidas Golden Boot winner Souleymane Coulibaly and his magnificent overhead kick in Côte d’Ivoire’s 3-3 draw with Brazil in the group phase.
