Juan Santisteban (ESP), Spain coach
"There are no easy or straightforward games;
when it's 11 versus 11, whether there's a difference in
quality or not, as long as teams fight and compete then the match
will be tight. That's what happened today against Honduras, and
though I'm happy to have won the game there are things we need
to work on. They made life very difficult for us, but they will
also make it tough for our other group rivals."
Miguel Escalante (HON), Honduras coach
"We played against quality opponents, a highly
competitive side with big-name players. Unfortunately our lack of
experience cost us and we made mistakes in the area of the field
we'd worked hardest on: defence. We quickly changed things
around and realised that we could go toe-to-toe with Spain, and
that's enough for me. What did I make of Bojan? He's very
elusive, he always knows where the goal is... He's a special
talent."
Bojan Krkic (ESP), Spainforward
"There are always nerves and anxiety in
opening games and that's what makes them tricky. Honduras were
a tough team to play, but every team at this World Cup will be
likewise. Fortunately we started the second half well and opened up
a lead. In general terms, I think we did what we had to
do."
Christian Martinez (HON), Honduras forward
"We didn't feel that our performance was far off
that of Spain, but they've got some superb players and they
gave them the edge. We have to keep working hard towards our aim of
qualifying for the last sixteen. I think we can beat
Argentina."
