It was a performance to make the rest of the world's elite tremble. From start to finish - quite literally given the nine-second and 87th minute goals which began and completed their triumph - Brazil dazzled against New Zealand on their FIFA U-17 World Cup Korea 2007 bow.

No player was more impressive than Alex, who supplied three assists and scored a brilliant individual goal to inspire the Seleção to a 7-0 victory. As Lucho Nizzo's troops gear up for their next Group B match against Korea DPR, their gifted No11 speaks to FIFA.com about his side's successful opener, his own performance and his personal aspirations for the future.

FIFA.com: Alex, Brazil opened up with a 7-0 victory - you must have been pleased with the result?
Alex: I was. I was very happy. We achieved what we set out to achieve. The team played really well and this was very satisfying.

What did you think of the game?
We made the perfect start, scoring after just nine seconds, and that put us in control. From there we were able to do what we have worked at in training, putting together some really nice plays and working as a team to break down our opponents.

Getting off to such a flying start must have been really encouraging to the team?
Yes, absolutely. Fabinho took his goal well and he turned in a very good performance overall.

You scored a superb goal of your own during the game - how did that feel?
I felt great to score - I wanted to score for my parents, my family and my girlfriend. It was a great feeling to manage this.

All the Brazilian players speak of a great spirit within the squad...
It's true. We have a great sense of togetherness. The group is very united. We all have the same goal, to become champions. The spirit within the group is and this helps us when we go out on the pitch.

Lucho Nizzo replaced Edgar Pereira as coach of the Seleção in April - do you think this had a positive or negative effect on the team?
I don't think it made too much of a difference - we are still the same team. Both are very good trainers.

Next up for Brazil is a match against Korea DPR -are you expecting a tough game?
Every game in a World Cup is difficult and Korea will be no different. They showed what they are capable of against England so we know we will have to perform to our potential. But if we do this I'm confident we can win.

Which footballers do you most look up to?
Robinho and Ronaldinho Gaucho.

Do you share a similar playing style to either of them?
I think I have some similarities to Robinho. We both like to dribble, to create.

What are your aspirations for the future?
First I'd like to work my way into the Vasco first-team and then I'd like the chance to play in Europe. It would be a dream to play for Barcelona, alongside Ronaldinho Gaucho.

Ronaldinho became a FIFA U-17 World Cup champion in 1997. Do you believe that you will become a champions with Brazil in Korea?
I believe that we can win this competition. We have a strong squad. There is a long way to go and we're not looking past Korea DPR right now, but we believe we can win it.
