Sellas Tetteh (GHA), Ghana coach
"I'm not surprised by this result. I knew my
players had the will and ability to get over this hurdle.
They'd already proved that to me and today they showed everyone
else. I'm certain they are destined for great futures. When we
picked up the red card, we had to change our tactics. With a player
less in midfield, we played more long balls to find our forwards a
bit quicker. We're going to have to work very hard for the rest
of the tournament, particularly on our tackling, but I'm not
worried because we have good organisation, good tactics and the
desire to go all the way. I knew this team couldn't get knocked
out of the tournament this early."
Lucho Nizzo (BRA), Brazil coach
"Getting eliminated is always difficult to
take, but we came up against a great Ghana side. They're very
strong physically and they showed they fully deserve their place at
this level. Today just wasn't our day and it came down to a
tiny detail. Despite his mistake, though, we can't blame our
goalkeeper. He's only 16 and he has his future ahead of him to
prove his worth."
Issac Donkor (GHA), Ghana forward
"I'm very happy to have scored this goal
because it set up the victory for my team. Even with ten men, we
were never afraid. We knew we could win and we knew we would win.
It's a kind of revenge for us because they've often beaten
us in the past, but we only had one thing on our minds - getting to
the final."
Marcelo (BRA), Brazil goalkeeper
"I'm extremely disappointed by our
elimination. We lost because of my mistake, when I lost control of
the ball. I feel really sorry for all my team-mates. I don't
know how to describe my disappointment."
