Maher Kanzari (TUN), Tunisia coach
"We didn't play particularly well in the first half,
but we made the changes necessary to perform much better in the
second. I think that bringing on Youssef Msakni made a big
difference to us, given that he's one of our best players and
decided the game with a nice goal. Now we face France who are
difficult opponents, but we're confident we can win. I still
don't know how far this team can go, but this tournament has
been an extraordinary experience
Pulod Kodirov (TJK), Tajikistan coach
"We knew we were facing a team that had won their first
two games, and we needed a draw so we tried to prepare ourselves in
the best possible fashion. Given the circumstances surrounding the
game, we knew that we'd still go through to the second round
even if we lost 1-0, so we were looking to save our energy. I made
several changes ahead of this game because we had a number of
injuries and tired players, but in the end it all worked out
well."
Youssef Msakni (TUN), Tunisia coach
"I don't want to speak about my performance today.
I'd rather praise the entire team, who did an extraordinary
job. We'd set out to win our three group games and we managed
it so we're very happy. Facing France doesn't mean anything
special, we already played against them in the build-up to the
tournament, a game we drew, so we know them well enough."
Fatkhullo Fatkhuloev (TJK), Tajikistan midfielder
"Despite the defeat I'm really happy to have
qualified for the second round of the competition. It's a great
achievement and we're very happy to be here. It's true we
came close to winning the game, and we even missed a penalty, but
now's not the time for regrets or looking for someone to blame
- it's a moment to savour. I want to thank the people in
Tajikistan who have been following our matches and supporting us
from their homes."
