Venezuela has won its way through to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad and Tobago 2010 after beating Paraguay 1-0 in the match for third place at the CONMEBOL qualifying tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
It was a historic result for Venezuela who will make their debut at a FIFA women’s tournament this September. The qualification is just the second occasion the nation has reached a FIFA tournament with the women’s U-17 team following in the footsteps of the Venezuela team which qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt last year.
Brazil and Chile secured their tickets to Trinidad and Tobago 2010 by winning their semi-finals earlier in the week. Brazil won today's final with a comprehensive 7-0 win against Chile.
