Jorge Vilda, Spain coach
Our strong point was our finishing, and we also pressed well and controlled the tempo of the game. I thought our keeper had a great match and the team worked really well as a whole. We knew Japan were a tough proposition because they are a quick and dynamic side, but we were lucky enough to score first and their heads went down when we made it 3-0. The second half was a little bit of a formality and we handled the situation extremely well.
Hiroshi Yoshida, Japan coach
Spain were very strong. We couldn’t play our game and the main reason for the defeat was that we couldn’t put our chances away. Spain had fewer chances but took them and we need to up our game in front of goal. Overall we combined well as a team but we gave away goals with the mistakes we made. So we need to improve at the back as well.
