Japan-England: Quotes

Hiroshi Yoshida, Japan coach
I think it all comes down to the fact we didn't score when we had the opportunities - that is why we are going home. England also played very hard in this game and were aggressive in getting to the ball to make sure they could win. We weren't able to control the game in midfield like we usually do.

Lois Fidler, England coach
Japan have some fantastic players, they're a great young side, and I'm sure some of those Japanese names will be stars of the future. But credit to our players for sticking to their task and showing fantastic character. These players have had some experience of penalty shoot-outs and it's something we've practised every day since coming here. I'm glad it's been time well spent!
