Referees named for first days of Olympic matches
The FIFA Referee's Committee has released the names of referees and their assistants for the first 24 men's and women's matches of the Olympic Football Tournaments.
Peter Prendergast of Jamaica will be in charge of the Australia - Italy men's match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Wednesday, which has drawn a capacity 90,000 crowd.

A total of 44 men and women referees and assistants have been nominated by FIFA for the Games, from all six continents. They all completed the customary fitness test on Monday morning, all achieving the required standards apart from the Colombian referee, Martha Toro Pardo, who is currently suffering from a slight leg injury which is not, however, expected to prevent her from participating in the tournament.
