Doping Tests at all Club World Championship Matches
As part of the intensified efforts to eliminate doping in football and other sports, FIFA will conduct doping tests at the Club World Championship in Brazil.
Two players from each team will be drawn by lot to undergo the standard doping test after each of the 14 matches of the tournament.
Announcements will only be made in the event that any player is tested positive. “FIFA is playing its role in the general worldwide campaign against doping,” said FIFA General Secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen.
“It is essential that we also hold tests at a high-profile event such as this, just as we are conducting tests at other FIFA competitions and even during the two-year qualifying series for the 2002 World Cup. This is in addition to the newly-introduced random tests out of competition.”
