At its meeting of 7 June in Cairo, the FIFA Emergency Committee nominated Brazil and Guatemala as hosts of the Club World Championship and the Futsal World Championship respectively. Standard inspections in the two designated countries will be carried out later this month.

The first edition of the FIFA Club World Championship will take place on January 5-14, 2000. It will feature eight teams: one from each confederation together with the winners of the European-South American Cup and a team from the host country.

The exact dates of the 4th Futsal World Championship, due to take place at the end of 2000, have yet to be determined. Previous editions were held in the Netherlands in 1989, Hong Kong in 1992 and Spain in 1996.
