Brazillian brilliance made way to Russian realism on Day Two of the FIFA Futsal World Championship in Guatemala.
The Russians - regarded by many as capable of challenging Brazil's domination of the indoor game - were too well organised for their Croatian opponents and deserved their 4-2 win. All six goals came in the second half of a match prematurely expected to decide who will top Group C.
The other game on Sunday's bill was a livelier if less skillful affair.
Australia broke the deadlock against Costa Rica but Carlos Chaves inspired the Central Americans to a superior share of the second half and they ran out comfortable 6-2 winners.
Monday's games see the first appearance of the highly fancied Spain (against Cuba), Argentina (against the talented Iran) and Netherlands (against Egypt), while Uruguay face Thailand.
