Pires,Vieira and Nakata take adidas awards for best players
French midfielders Robert Pires and Patrick Vieira have finished first and second in the voting for the adidas Golden Ball award for the best players of the FIFA Confederations Cup Korea/Japan 2001.
Pires took the Golden Ball by topping the standings with 249 points, well ahead of Vieira on 184.
Japanese star Hidetoshi Nakata claimed the Bronze Ball by coming third in the voting with 162 points, despite having missed the Final.
In fourth place was Japanese goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi, while French captain Marcel Desaily placed fifth.
The votes were cast by the media representatives accredited to the Confederations Cup.
