An 81st minute strike from substitute Georges Mandjeck earned Cameroon a share of the spoils against Korea Republic in Qinhuangdao.

On a hot and humid night, both sides began the match playing a high-tempo, pressing game. In the energy-sapping conditions, this took its toll, and as a result, both sides became limited to playing a long-ball game for the majority of the opening 45 minutes.

When the midfield was utilised, however, chances were created. After seven minutes Lee Keun-Ho flashed a shot across the face of goal from the left hand corner of the box. Five minutes later, Aurelien Chedjou's searching ball found the head of Serge Ngal, but his chance went just wide of the target.

Stade Rennes midfielder Stephane M'bia always looked a threat from free-kicks and arguably his finest came in the 20th minute when a low piledriver flew under the wall and went narrowly off-target.

With both teams tiring in the second half, chances began to occur more frequently and just two minutes after the interval, substitute Shin Young-Rok put in an inch-perfect cross for Park, whose header went just wide.

Chedjou's goalbound free-kick rattled the crossbar in the 49th minute and Park had two chances to break the deadlock, but was frustrated by the excellent goalkeeping of Amour Tignyemb and some last-ditch defending.

He was not to be denied in the 68th minute though when his direct free-kick crept through the defence and the outstretched arms of Tignyemb, much to the delight of his team-mates and the majority of the crowd.

Korea's cheers turned to tears just 12 minutes later when Cameroon substitute Frank Songoo found Gustave Bebbe inside the box. He teed the ball to Georges Mandjeck who fired past the helpless Jung Sung-Ryong.

Although both sides tried their best to set up a grandstand finish, it was not to be. There was still time for drama though when Albert Baning was shown the red card for a late tackle on Lee.

The draw puts Italy two points clear at the summit of Group D, with the leaders meeting Korea Republic next in what promises to be an entertaining encounter.
