Japan's Olympic team earned a 1-1 draw with African side Angola on Thursday in a warm up match ahead of the Summer Games in Beijing.
After repeatedly threatening the Angola goal, the Japanese under-23 squad finally hit the target when midfielder Yuto Nagatomo produced a fine cross from the right for Yohei Toyoda's left-footed strike in the 53rd minute.
The visitors, led by striker Manucho, who has signed with Manchester United but has yet to join the English side due to visa problems, saw few scoring chances.
But they seized a rare opportunity when Manucho headed for goal and found substitute striker Diangi, who duly netted to level it in the 76th minute.
The match came a day after Japan's FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign suffered an alarming blow in a 1-0 defeat away to Bahrain.
