Reigning FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion Nenad Stojkovic, along with his girlfriend, enjoyed a few dreamy days in Zurich this week. The FIWC10 champion travelled to Zurich to attend the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala where he received his FIWC10 award. We joined Nenad on the big day.
Battle of the world champions
The first highlight of Nenad's gala day came at the official press conference for the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala. After the nominee players and coaches had fielded questions from the assembled journalists, it was Nenad’s turn to take to the stage at the Kongresshaus in Zurich. After a few brave words regarding the defence of his title, Nenad's face lit up as FIFA/FIFPro World XI star Gerard Pique appeared on stage to present him with his FIWC10 winner's certificate.
"I play FIFA11 on the road, in hotels and with the team. Messi and Iniesta also like to play a lot," said Pique after handing Nenad his award. Asked who was the better virtual gamer of the three Barcelona stars, Pique replied "maybe I am!"
Nenad was quick to put Pique's words to the test. He immediately challenged the FIFA World Cup™ winner to an EA SPORTS™ FIFA11 duel. Pique opted to play with his favourite FIFA 11 side, Barcelona, while Nenad chose Manchester United - one of the Spaniard's former clubs. Lionel Messi, never one to miss a big game, walked over to watch the match. Despite being in the company of two of the world's biggest football stars Nenad kept his cool, slotting three goals past Pique. The fun was only just beginning for Nenad, who then posed for a photo with fellow FIFA Ballon d'Or nominees Andres Iniesta and Xavi.
Nenad had time to pay a visit to the Barcelona lounge and meet David Villa and coach Pep Guardiola before heading off to the Gala event. In front of the expectant crowds, he walked along the red carpet hand-in-hand with his girlfriend and into the opulent Zurich Kongresshaus.
Once inside, Nenad stood back and watched as the stars of world football arrived in the Presidential Lounge. Nenad's next photo-opportunity was a special one, a snapshot with one of his favourite players Cristiano Ronaldo. And then it was time for Nenad and his guest to take their seats and watch the prestigious event. In the press conference earlier that day, Nenad had tipped Marta and Lionel Messi to walk away with the individual awards and the FIWC10 champion got it spot on!
Nenad had the opportunity to reflect on the day's wonderful events over dinner, which he enjoyed alongside FIFA Puskás Award winner Hamit Altintop. "A day like this means so much more to me than the prize money!" Nenad said with a smile.
If you want to enjoy an unforgettable day like Nenad's, then there is only one thing to do – sign up for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2011. Along with a massive cash prize, The FIWC11 champion will be invited to next year's FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala!
