It took over 18 million goals and 4.4 million matches, played between almost 800,000 registered gamers, to arrive at the final 11 names for Season 2 of FIWC10 online.
FIFA.com is happy to finally announce the Season 2 winners’ names; these are the last gamers to book their seats at the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2010 Grand Final. The 11 gamers in the table below will join the ten Season 1 online winners along with reigning FIWC champion Bruce Grannec and the ten live event winners at the FIWC10 Grand Final to be held in Barcelona on 1 May.
The global No1 for Season 2 was Eduardo Lillo ‘chelipop’. FIFA.com caught up with the man who finished ahead of almost 800,000 gamers in Season 2 on his quest for a seat in Barcelona.
FIFA.com: Eduardo, how do you feel about making the Grand Final?
Eduardo: To be honest, it's been a very special week, especially after the earthquake in my country. To be first at the moment is a very special prize to me, due the calm I kept at that time.
You pretty much dominated the CONMEBOL qualification all season long, what do you think helped you stay on top?
This season, I believe the advantage I took at the very beginning was the key to me qualifying. When you are on top, it's easier to handle the situation and control yourself. Also, the winning desire gets bigger and bigger every week.
Is there anyone you are especially nervous to come up against at the Grand Final?
All the opponents that have already played in previous Grand Final editions are very dangerous. I think the experience of being part of previous editions of the tournament is a big advantage.
How does it feel to have finished first ahead of almost 800,000 players in Season 2?
I feel very proud to leave my country on top, even more by checking the quality and the high level of every single player this season. I'll go to Barcelona with the same goal I always have: to repeat the victory and give Chile the spot it deserves.
