The FIFA Interactive World Cup Grand Final

FIFA Interactive World Cup 2008 Grand Final is held at the Sony Center, Potsdamer Platz, Berlin in Germany. 32 players who have qualified via the live qualifier events that have taken place in 20 countries around the world and via the online qualification will battle it out to be crowned FIFA Interactive World Player 2008 and win $20,000 USD prize money.

The countdown has already begun. Saturday 24 May 2008 will see 32 of the globe's best football gamers arrive at Berlin's Sony Center in Germany, to challenge for the title of FIFA Interactive World Player 2008. This amazing event will draw spectators from all over the globe to witness the live action unfold.

The finalists will consist of the 20 winners from the Live Qualifier events from around the world along with the 12 finalists from the Online Qualification, who battled it out for the chance to compete at the Grand Final. If you are not fortunate enough to have advanced to the FIWC Grand Final as a competitor yet still fancy a memorable day out, the Grand Final promises to be a great spectacle offering spectators the opportunity to experience a range of real and virtual football activities. People will be able to explore the high definition gaming lounge featuring the latest Next Generation PlayStation hardware and EA SPORTS newest releases.

There will also be live music acts performing at the After-Party, with a selection of professional footballers and celebrities turning up to mingle with the crowds.

Almost 500 square meters full of fun, joy, entertainment and gaming will be waiting for you at Berlin's Sony Center. Entry is free and the interactive areas will be opened at 11am in the morning. The tournament and the main stage will open at 4pm.

The famous German music artist 'Das Bo' will perform live on stage to make this event a huge party for not only the finalists, but also for all the spectators who will be able to check out the newest games and play FIFA 08 for themselves. MC'ing the event is none other than Anthony Baffoe, who hosted his own gaming show on German TV. The ultimate highlight, the final, will take place between 8pm and 8.30pm. But there is much, much more to see and do.

The FIWC Grand Final will be competitive and the contenders will have to overcome the reigning FIWC Champion Andries Smit (Netherlands) as well as 2005 champion Chris Bullard (England) if they are to stand a chance of being crowned FIFA Interactive World Player 2008. Andries and Chris have already secured their spots at the Grand Final by having won their respective Live Qualifiers.

Will Andries now become the first player to successfully defend his crown or will there be a new rising star on the FIWC horizon?

Not only will the winner be crowned FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion 2008, the talented virtual footballer will also receive $20,000 prize money and be given an all expenses paid trip to attend the FIFA World Player Gala 2008, where he will meet with the world's best football stars of the year.
