Dunga, Brazil coach
We were expecting a difficult tie mainly because we've played six very tough games now in the space of just 19 days. Obviously that takes its toll. Even so we performed well and managed to get the win. Games last for 90 minutes and you have to use all the weapons you have at your disposal. Did I think that bringing Alves on might win the game for us? Absolutely. He's a dead-ball specialist and I knew we might get a chance to score that way. Fortunately, that's how it turned out and here we are in another final.

Joel Santana, South Africa coach
It was an even match that was decided by a set-piece right at the end. We played a great game and the players did exactly what we asked them to. We surprised Brazil in the midfield, we created chances and it was still all square with just two minutes to go. It was a special game for me on a personal level. It was very emotional to be facing my home country as the coach of a team that has accepted me as if I were a South African born and bred. I'm very proud. We still have a year to go before the World Cup and we've shown that we're on the right track. We can still get better, though, and that's something we hope to do.

Budweiser Man of the Match Steven Pienaar, South Africa midfielder
I'm not going to deny it. I'm proud at being named Budweiser Man of the Match though I would have preferred us to win. Sometimes football is unfair. We played really well as a team and we still ended up losing. We lost to a great side and I wish them every success in Sunday's final.

Luis Fabiano, Brazil striker
South Africa didn't just play the way we expected; they played a lot, lot better. They put in a fantastic performance, kept it very tight and man-marked us excellently. I think the most important thing about our performance was that we won. Here we are again in yet another final. That's Brazil for you and we're proud of maintaining that tradition.

Daniel Alves, Brazil's goalscorer
I'd only just come on and I was focusing so hard I wasn't even thinking about whether I was playing on the right or the left. The goal? I'm always practising free-kicks in training and ¡t was all down to that. I made my little contribution to the victory and that's the main thing. The celebration was for my children. Everything I do is for them and I'd like to dedicate our achievement in reaching the final to them.

Aaron Mokoena, South Africa captain
It's always a disappointment to lose after battling so hard. My team-mates played really well and we deserved more but just couldn't score. But that's football, isn't it? We need to make sure we keep going now.

Siphiwe Tshabalala, South Africa midfielder
Obviously I'm disappointed with the defeat as this was far and away our best performance of the tournament. We weren't over-respectful of Brazil and we lost with dignity. We went down fighting and that makes me happy.
