Dunga, Brazil coach
We played well today. We showed we were better physically and tactically than a great team. It's always important to get off to a good start and we did that. South Africa are an emerging team but we know they will give us a difficult test. They're strong, quick and they will have the crowd behind them. Joel Santana is one of the best coaches Brazil has.
Marcello Lippi, Italy coach
This was not the real Italy. We didn't play to our potential. We've had some injuries and our players were tired after a long season, but of course I expected more. Saying that, we were only one goal short of going through. Unfortunately for us though, we came up against a very strong team in our final game.
Budweiser Man of the Match, Luis Fabiano, Brazil forward
A lot of people didn't believe in me, but with humility and hard work I have proved myself. I'm very happy. It was a relief to get off the mark and I managed to get a double. The most important thing was that we beat a very good side and qualified for the next round. We prepared well for this game. Every team wants to leave this tournament triumphant, and we moved one step closer to this tonight.
Luca Toni, Italy forward
We tried but tonight wasn't our night. It was a very difficult match and we really have to think about what we're doing wrong. A result like that can not be repeated.
Felipe Melo, Brazil midfielder
I think we played an almost perfect match. I expected more from Italy, I thought they would be more dangerous. But we didn't allow them to look good. I will remember this match for a long time.
Gianluigi Buffon, Italy goalkeeper
We don't have any clue on what's going wrong with the team.
