UEFA EURO 2008 featured a great many glittering individual performances, both in attack and defence. Who can forget Andrei Arshavin's masterly display for Russia against the Netherlands, David Villa's wonderful opportunist hat-trick in Spain's opening game, or Wesley Sneijder's commanding display and brilliant last-minute goal against France?

FIFA.com wants to know your pick for the EURO 2008 XI. In goals, you are spoiled for choice: there is Iker Casillas, hero of the shootout against Italy, the venerable Edwin van der Sar, maintaining his high standards in his final international tournament, and Gianluigi Buffon, continuing his FIFA World Cup™ form. Or perhaps another keeper caught your eye?

It was a tournament where defenders strode purposefully forward on many occasions, especially Sergio Ramos of Spain, Philipp Lahm of Germany, Yuri Zhirkov of Russia and Pepe of Portugal. But let us not forget Giorgio Chiellini, who filled in so capably for the absent Fabio Cannavaro, or Carles Puyol, Spain's defensive rock.

In midfield, the Spanish champions boasted an embarrassment of riches, with Marcos Senna ably holding the fort behind artists such as Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Cesc Fabregas. The beaten finalists must be considered as well; Michael Ballack had a true captain's tournament, while Bastian Schweinsteiger impressed once again. Then there was Russia's Konstantin Zyryanov, Turkey's Arda Turan, the Netherlands' Wesley Sneijder, and others. A tough choice in this area.

Up front, David Villa stole the show in the champions' opener, but Fernando Torres was there to do the damage at the end. Nihat Kahveci, until his injury, was the bane of all Turkey's opponents. Roman Pavlyuchenko and Andrei Arshavin also made a formidable combination for the Russians.

So, it's over to you. Let us know your picks for the team of the tournament, remembering to keep your comments clean, respectful and in English.
