Ciprian Marica, a member of Romania's UEFA EURO 2008 squad, was today hospitalised after a clash with fellow striker Marius Niculae in a training session, Romanian media sources have reported.

Marica and Niculae's heads came together during a training match for the replacements the day after the first team had drawn 0-0 with France in their Group C opener.

Marica, 22 and Bundesliga side Stuttgart's record signing, was attended to for around a dozen minutes but still appeared to be less than lucid. Not wanting to take any chances, the Romanian medical staff sent him to hospital.
