Altintop, Basturk axed by Turkey
Turkey coach Fatih Terim on Thursday axed striker Halil Altintop, midfielder Yildiray Basturk and defender Ibrahim Kas from UEFA EURO 2008 squad.
Terim announced his final 23-man squad at a news conference at Bielefeld, Germany, where the team has been training since 17 May.
Terim was forced to add defender Emre Gungor to his original 26-man squad as this month as a possible replacement for Servet Cetin, who is recovering from an injury.
At the weekend, he removed Gokhan Gonul from the squad after the defender developed an edema in his right foot.
