Nigeria have named a squad of experienced players for the 2008 African Nations Cup starting in Ghana on Sunday week.

Skipper Nwankwo Kanu will be appearing in his fifth Nations Cup while others like Osaze Odemwingie, Joseph Yobo and John Utaka have been involved with this competition since the 2004 edition in Tunisia.

German coach Berti Vogts has included eight players in the final squad of 23 who will make their Nations Cup finals debut.

They are Dickson Etuhu, Onyekachi Okonkwo, Ikechukwu Uche, Danny Shittu, Ifeanyi Emeghara, Rabiu Afolabi, Richard Eromoigbe and Onyekachi Apam.

Two-time winners Nigeria are drawn in Group B along with Ivory Coast, Mali and Benin
