As expected, standout players such as Kaka and Luis Fabiano of eventual winners Brazil and Spain's red-hot strike duo of Fernando Torres and David Villa certainly made their mark on the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009. Others, including Clint Dempsey and goalkeeper Tim Howard of surprise package USA, as well as striker Bernard Parker and midfield maestro Steven Pienaar of hosts South Africa all managed to put in impressive all-around performances on the world stage.

However, the Festival of Champions also provided a spotlight for plenty of young, lesser known talents to stake a claim. In this latest instalment of Have Your Say, FIFA.com would like to know who you feel was the best young player at the FIFA Confederations Cup, the dress rehearsal for next summer's 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.

The Spain squad boasted a wealth of young defensive talents in the form of Sergio Busquets (20) and Gerard Pique (22), both of Barcelona, who are sure to keep the reigning European champions solid at the back for years to come. Cruzeiro midfielder Ramires (22) of Brazil was another who took full advantage of the opportunity to showcase his massive potential at a major international tournament. Meanwhile, livewire Italy forward Giuseppe Rossi (22) capped off some energetic displays with a brace for the Germany 2006 winners.

Two young American strikers also managed to put their names firmly on the Planet Football map, as Jozy Altidore (19), recently loaned out to Xerex CD by Villarreal, and Charlie Davies (23) of Hammarby IF in Sweden both played their way into fans' hearts with some vibrant showings. For South Africa, goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune (22) of Kaizer Chiefs showed that it will be no mean feat to beat him at next summer's finals, proving himself as a reliable shot stopper as his team progressed to the semi-finals.

In addition, Egyptian quartet Ahmed Al Muhamadi (21), Ahmed Khairy (21), Ahmed Farag (23) and Abdelaziz Tawfik (23) all gave a good account of themselves in national colours with a number of promising performances throughout the tournament.

Which of these starlets impressed you the most? Perhaps another young talent caught your eye at the FIFA Confederations Cup. Tell us your thoughts - we look forward to hearing from you. Just remember to keep your posts clean, respectful and in English.
