World football champions Italy have arrived in South Africa for the eight nation FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa tournament which starts on Sunday.

The Azzurri play a friendly against Oceania champions New Zealand in Pretoria on Wednesday before taking on the United States in their first Confederations Cup fixture on 15 June.

Coach Marcello Lippi's squad, which includes World Cup winning trio Gianluigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro and Luca Toni, also play Egypt and Brazil in the first round.

The two week tournament comes a year ahead of Africa's first FIFA World Cup next June.
