Ali Mohamed Bujsaim of the United Arab Emirates has been selected to referee the Final of the FIFA Confederations Cup Korea/Japan on Sunday, 10 June in Yokohama.

His excellent performance in the France - Mexico Group A match in Ulsan, Korea was recognised by the FIFA Referees Committee at their meeting in Tokyo on Tuesday, 6 June.

The 41-year-old Bujsaim has been an international referee since 1990. He is already very experienced with plenty of big matches under his belt, most notably the 1998 FIFA World Cup semi-final between Brazil and the Netherlands in Marseille, when the South Americans clinched victory on penalties.

He was also a World Cup referee four years earlier in the USA, when he took charge of the Third Place Match between Bulgaria and Sweden in Pasadena, and has officated at the 1992 Olympic Football Tournament, three Asian Cups and three editions of the African Cupof Nations.

Bujsaim is no stranger to the FIFA Confederations Cup, either. He officiated at the Final of the 1995 edition of the competition's forerunner, the Intercontinental Cup, in which Denmark defeated Argentina in Riyadh.
