a) greater number of points obtained in all the group matches
b) goal difference in all the group matches
c) greater number of goals scored in all the group matches
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their place shall be determined as follows:

d) greater number of points obtained in all the group matches between the teams concerned
e) goal difference resulting from all the group matches between the teams concerned
f) greater number of goals scored in all the group matches between the teams concerned
g) drawing lots by the Organising Committee for the FIFA Confederations Cup

The four teams which qualify in the first round shall play the semi-finals in accordance with the knock-out system, as follows:

- Match No. 13: Winner A vs Runner-up B
- Match No. 14: Winner B vs Runner-up A

Wherever possible, the host national team should remain in its own country if it qualifies for the semi-finals. For example, if Korea is runner-up in Group A and Japan does not qualify for the semi-finals (or vice versa), the winner of Group B is obliged to change countries. If Japan qualifies as the winner of Group B and Korea is the runner-up of Group A (or vice versa), the group winner shall stay in its own country.
