Josef Hickersberger, Al-Wahda Sports Club coach
My players were nervous because a lot was expected of them, and it was tough to be cast as the favourites. Hekari played a physical, long-ball game and we responded in the same way, which is not our style at all. Fortunately, my experienced players took control of the match, though we won’t stand a chance if we play like that against Seongnam. The next game starts now.
Tommy Mana, Hekari United FC coach
I’m proud of my boys. We kept on looking for the goal, and we conceded twice in five minutes because we were on the attack. We lost our concentration, but we don’t have any regrets. We just lacked a little experience and I hope we’ve managed to pick some up tonight so we can come back one day.
Marcio Magrao, Al-Wahda Sports Club midfielder
It was a tough game, especially in the first 15 minutes, because we’d never seen Hekari play. We were surprised because they were physically strong and did a lot of tackling. After that, though, we managed to control the game without a hitch.
Osea Vakatalesau, Hekari United FC forward
We can be proud. We’ve been beaten by the better side, though I’m think that if we’d scored the first goal it could have changed the of the game. Luck just wasn’t on our side though.
