Quotes

Alejandro Sabella, Estudiantes coach
The result was fair. In the first half we controlled the game and our performance was excellent. If we compare what Barcelona have done in previous matches, their performance in first half was not as too good, unlike it was in the second half. We were close to achieving our dream but at the end of the day, we failed. But the players did a perfect job today. We gave it our all. It would have been great to take the cup home, but this is football and we lost with our heads held high.

Pep Guardiola, Barcelona coach
We expected that Estudiantes would give us a big fight. We managed to play on the flanks in the second half, when we changed the game. At half-time I told the players they must be strong, at a final like this you have to fight. For me this was a great year. We have achieved something that no-one has achieved before. I’m lucky that I have such quality players in my squad. The success that we’ve had has been down to them and I’d like to thank them for that.
