Brazil's Cruzeiro set up a Copa Libertadores final against Argentina's Estudiantes after a 2-2 semi-final second leg draw with compatriots Gremio wrapped up a 5-3 aggregate triumph.
Wellington Paulista scored twice in two minutes just before the break to increase Cruzeiro's advantage after winning the first leg 3-1.
Rever headed home Tcheco's 55th minute corner to pull a goal back for Gremio, but any slim hopes they had of finding four goals in the second half were virtually ended four minutes later when midfielder Adilson was sent-off.
Souza fired home with 15 minutes remaining to level the second leg, but Gremio could not stop two time winners Cruzeiro advancing to face Estudiantes, who eliminated Uruguay's Nacional on Wednesday.
"To win and to advance to the final is more important than the two goals I scored," said Wellington. "The opening 25 minutes were very difficult as we had to mark a lot, but then we scored the necessary goals to take control of the game." Estudiantes will host the first leg of the final in Argentina next Wednesday.
